Originally named the ‘Hughes-Boyd School of Dancing’ and founded by our mother Miss Dorothy, a dance teaching legend. She started the school at the tender age of 18yrs, later passing her exams in Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Music and Voice Production. She led the televised pre-match demonstration for the Rugby Cup Final at Wembley. Her senior cabaret group performed with Russ Abbott, Cannon & Ball, Ken Dodd and Keith Harris. Miss Dorothy was then chosen to provide a presentation of 300 children for the Duke of Edinburgh, for the opening ceremony of Deeside Leisure Centre.
Her children, Clinton and Nikki both trained at Hylton Bromley, then later at the Arts Educational Schools Tring and Arts Educational London Golden Lane.
Miss Nikki was also offered a place at The Royal Ballet School!
Clinton performed for Her Majesty the Queen at the Barbican, London. Miss Nikki danced for royalty at The Royal Albert Hall which was televised on Channel 4.
Both teachers qualified with the N.A.T.D and the I.D.T.A. then later returning to Hylton Bromley for further gruelling advanced examinations.
We also had the honour of being chosen to provide a dance presentation for Princess Diana on the opening ceremony at Holywell Leisure Centre.
We both continue to strive to maintain our mother’s standards in all our classes.
Many of our ex pupils are currently working professionally in this country and abroad.
